Happy Hours in Portland, Oregon

Happy-hour deals have become the smart way to explore Portland’s best restaurants at bargain prices. (While enjoying drink specials, to boot.) As an added bonus, many establishments offer both early and late happy hours.

Diners feel on top of the world at 30th-floor Portland City Grill. During two nightly happy hours, the panoramic city view and dishes like the papaya, cucumber and avocado stack salad can be enjoyed for decidedly down-to-earth prices.

At The Heathman Restaurant and Bar, sophisticated small plates like bay shrimp and asparagus, croque monsieurs and charcuterie boards are 50 percent off from 2 p.m. until close daily. The three downtown locations of McCormick & Schmick’s — including the venerable Jake’s Famous Crawfish and Jake’s Grill — are beloved for under-five-dollar items like a burger with Tillamook cheese, steamed mussels and fish tacos.

Other favorite spots include Andina, where the nouveau-Peruvian menu includes octopus skewers and pisco sours; Saucebox, a hip space serving pan-Asian cuisine; and the RingSide Steakhouse, renowned for comforting specialties like steak bites and onion rings.
